New Additions

We added two mediterranean donkeys to our farm. I have been in love with donkeys since I first met a Poitou donkey, around 10 years or so ago. Poitou donkeys are giant and wooly, a very rare breed originating in France. Not much chance of me getting one.  I was so smitten with this critter. It was not mine, and I snuggled it, and didn't realize it at the time, but he ended up with a faint lip print on his muzzle from where I gave him a smooch.

Fast forward 10 years and now we live on a farm where it was finally possible for me to get my donkeys. I came across a picture of a tiny wooly donkey and then the obsession started. they are perhaps one of the cutest animals on the planet. I know I think that about many animals, but in this case, it is actually true.

These are just babies now, but when they get older we would love to teach them how to cart. Who knows what the future will bring, but for now we are going to enjoy these babies and spoil them. We will have them out from time to time, so when you come visit the store, you might be able to meet them.

Greenhouse Season is upon us

We are busy growing several hundred plants, preparing for the gardening season. All of our vegetable and herb plants are organically grown, non-gmo, and are mostly heirloom varieties. This was super important to us, as a family, and so we felt like we needed to do the same for our customers. Most greenhouses use lots of chemicals, growth regulators and all sorts of unnatural things on their plants. We wanted to offer people an alternative.

Our seeds come from seed banks and from seed shares. We try to get unique varieties, and those with the most vitamins and antioxidants. Purple vegetables and fruits are the best. The darker the better. The thing that causes the purple coloring provides the most antioxidants.

This season we will be offering gooseberry, black currant, blueberry, white currant and elderberry bushes. We will have strawberries and a very limited number of pine berry plants.
